Like most frozen food players, our cold storage operation consumes a lot of energy. Food processing, machinery, refrigeration, and freezing are all energy intensive processes and heavily dependent on fossils fuels.
The continued use of fossil fuels generates high levels of carbon dioxide and air pollution. The air pollution causes harmful health problems and CO2 emissions contribute to climate change. CO2 has a harmful impact on our environment by altering weather patterns, rising sea levels and increasing ecological damage.
As one of the leading frozen food dealer in Johor, SEA Frozen Food is committed to making an active contribution to a greener society. In 2019, we began to explore renewable energy and decided to implement solar energy solution to reduce the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. |

Total of 100 unit Solar PV modules with capacity of 38.00kWp mounted on the rooftop of cold storage plant |
|
This solution enables us to generate 46,000 kWh annually, which is equivalent to saving over 50.18 tons of standard coal, planting about 82 trees and reducing CO2 & Greenhouse gases emissions by 59.59 tons.
Solar energy solution offers significant environmental benefits in comparison to the conventional energy sources. Therefore, our second solar project with additional capacity 180.00kWp has been planned and expected to be fully operational by 2024. This renewable energy shall replace a significant portion of our existing electricity consumption and make the food processing even more sustainable. |
